Promoting the preaching and teaching of God's word clearly and boldly.

Quoting from the website’s profile, Verse by Verse Ministry of San Antonio is a non-profit, non-denominational, Christian ministry dedicated to promoting the preaching and teaching of God’s word clearly and boldly, in its proper historical and theological context.

The Verse by Verse Ministry website tries to achieve this goal by introducing a simple way to distribute knowledge and teaching to the Bible Class student by hosting free audio lessons, articles, and online Question & Answers. Every month, Verse by Verse Ministry website distributes over 85.000 audio lessons to student from over 150 countries.

The articles and resource library are fun to read for those who seek knowledge of the bible. The writing is good, with enough flair to keep the mind fresh. The Question & Answer section is for those with curious of mind that wants to seek personal guidance. The answers are helpful and often insightful with interpretation and application of the scripture.

The website layout is at once simple and esthetically pleasing, with clear placement of links and articles and lack of ads. The base color is brown with white background for website content for the easy reading experience. This is important, considering the amount of online resource library available in the website. It is no fun at all to read large chunk of text within black background.

Verse by Verse Ministry website is clear and concise of its purpose from the get go. The readers can see that by simply clicking on the about page, or by gathering the evidence peppered consistently throughout the various pages on the website. It provides a fun but sincere and professional persuasion for people to seek the knowledge of the Gospel and doing that freely.

No need to throw tomatoes at this website, read the review to see for yourself.

Website Review was very familiar with www.rottentomatoes.com before rating it. This site is one that many people frequent before venturing out to pay ever increasing prices at the box office. It has literally everything movies, from ratings, movie clips and trailers, top DVD rentals and newly released DVDs to picture galleries and quizzes. If you want to know something about a movie, this is the site to find it. The top menu includes Movies, DVD, Celebrities, News, and Critics. One of the best features that Website Review likes is that you can see ratings from movies goers as well as critics.

The main page of Rotten Tomatoes has a ton of information on it. Movies on this page are categorized by Top Box Office, Opening, Coming Soon, and Most Anticipated. DVDs are broken down into Top Rentals and New on DVD This Week. Also on the main page is a search window for you to find anything you’re looking for. Website Review likes how movies that are rated high are given a plump red tomato, while movies that are rated low have a green splat next to them.

The main page on Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t have any advertising, but on other pages there is some. The advertising is kept to the outer areas on the screen, so it hardly distracts from the content of the page you’re looking at.

Another feature Website Review likes is how if you click on the Celebrities tab from the main menu, it takes you to a page where it has pictures of actors that are starring in movies that are currently out. You can also look up virtually any actor and see all of their films, how they were rated and year they came out, and how they did at the box office. Each celebrity has a short bio of them and tells when and where they were born.

Website Review really likes everything on www.rottentomatoes.com. The information is up to date and there is tons of it. We highly recommend this site to anyone looking for anything to do with movies.

Website Review Features PSD Tuts plus, learning Photoshop just got a lot easier.

When Website Review first landed on http://psd.tutsplus.com/, we thought the site had a great concept. According to psd.tutsplus, they are a blog and Photoshop site geared towards graphic artists. They offer Photoshop tutorials and also welcome new tutorials.

Website Review found numerous tutorials on many topics such as: 3D, Designing, Drawing, Illustration, Effects, Interface, and more. A good portion of the psd.tutsplus site is free, but for more tutorials a premium membership can be purchased. At the time of this writing the cost of the upgraded membership was $78 a year. The $78 includes access to all program sites which include Photoshop, Web Development, Motion Graphics, and more. There is a 30 day money back guarantee available to those who might change their mind about membership.

The main page offers the latest tutorials along with a description and star rating. There is also a place for popular posts as well as articles and even contests. The main page does have its share of advertisement, but almost all of it is related to things such as graphic design or photography.

Website Review found psd.tutsplus to be easy to use and easy to look at. The main page links to Tutorials, Articles, Tips, Sessions, Basix, Videos, and a link to purchase the premium membership. There are also links to Advertise, Write for Us, About, and Usage.

Website Review thinks this is a cool site even if you’re not into Photoshop. There are a lot of really good images to look at and get an idea of how they were created. If you go to one of the tutorials, you can see step by step how the designer did the image. It’s fun to see the image being developed from beginning to end. The interviews are also very interesting. The interviewee discusses how they got involved in graphic art and design, how they get their ideas, and more.

Website Review would definitely recommend http://psd.tutsplus.com/ to anyone looking to further their knowledge of Photoshop or for those interested in a specific tutorial. The site has many cool images and tutorials to choose from, many of which are free, although the upgraded membership may benefit professionals.

Icon Finder finds its way into a featured site award

When Website Review took a look at www.iconfinder.com, we were initially a little disappointed in the main page. The landing page is a little bleak, to say the least. In the case of IconFinder though, don’t judge a book by its cover! Once you begin browsing through this site you can find a ton of fun icons. On the main page you can type in what you are looking for in the search bar, or click on one of the menu tabs such as Browse, Tools, Blog, About, Give Feedback, or Submit Icons.

Under the Browse tab on IconFinder, there are numerous icons to choose from. Most of the icons are free for non commercial or personal use. Website Review tried typing in about 30 different types of icons (dog, work, love, etc.) and there were icons for everything, although some categories had more to offer than others.

The Tools tab claims API, plugins, apps, and other useful icon related tools. The Blog section is a place to find information out about IconFinder, and it also offers tutorials and freebies. The Blog section lists the title of the blog as well as the first one or two sentences to give you a feel for what it is about. If you are interested in reading more, there is a button to click that will take you to the full article. There is also a button that tells you how many comments a certain blog has and takes you directly to the comment section. Website Review liked what it saw on some of the blogs. For example, before interviewing some icon designers, the community was allowed to post questions they may want answered. There was one downside to the Blog section. Website Review found no recent posts, and the blogs seem to be hit and miss as far as the dates are concerned. In other words, there is no steady stream of content.

Under the About tab, users can find information about the site, search tips, and information on how to become an advertiser. The advertising that is on the site is located on the right side of the pages and is kept to a minimum. It isn’t too distracting at all.

The About page of the site also has a place for recent comments. You can read what others have said about the icons and when they posted their comment. Other information available on this page is how to download their logo, contact information, how to buy swag, how to advertise, and traffic stats, which is kind of cool to see. Not many websites offer that information to the general viewing public.

The other two tabs for Give Feedback and Submit Icons are self explanatory.

Overall, Website Review loves the concept behind www.iconfinder.com. This site is easy for anyone to use and anyone can have fun looking at all of the icons. If you’re looking to spruce up a page or two, take some time and give this site a try.

Website Review features Squidoo.com and creates our own Squidoo lens

There is so much one can do at www.squidoo.com! This site is a powerful publishing platform that offers users an opportunity to build “lenses”, otherwise known as pages, on any topic that interests them. Users can also earn money for themselves or their favorite charity’ all for free. Like all website reviews, the first impression starts with the home page. Accommodating Internet users who like to jump right in and those who like to poke around to gather information is key to getting an initial thumbs up. A cute friendly “squidmonster” smiles with delight ready to lead the way to get signed up while a list of sample lenses are available to those looking to do a little research first. Browsing for information is easy, creating lenses is simple, and earning money, points and trophies is fun and rewarding!

Gathering information for this website review was a easy as clicking the link at the top of the page labeled “What’s Squidoo?”. The squid team’s short and to the point explanations of what Squidoo is all about is a refreshing approach. There are tabs at the top of the lens guiding uses to more detailed information. A convenient tool bar appears at the bottom of every lens. Exploring more of what Squidoo has to offer is conveniently suggested in the fun stuff to do button. Because so many Internet users have more than just one favorite social networking site or ways they like to share information, the tool bar also includes direct links to some of those most popular among Internet users. Making it simple for users to share lenses on a variety of networked media is key to getting the word out there about Squidoo. This feature is clearly created by a king squid that knows how to become successful on the Internet!

When first time users start the process of creating their very own lens on this site, they will be pleasantly surprised to find out it is not just simple but super simple! Entering a user name, email address and creating a password is all that is required to start the process of building a lens. SquidU and Squidblog offer discussion boards, tips on how to make a stunning lens, become a successful lensmaster, answers to the most commonly asked questions and provide updates on the latest and greatest news from squid headquarters. The head squids running the show know that making the whole process of building successful lenses easy as can be is the key to encouraging users to build even more lenses and gain new users.

Offering the opportunity to make money without having to spend money is a big attraction for those looking to raise funds for their favorite charity or just to make some extra cash. Relevant advertisement and product placement options allow lensmasters to monetize their lenses raising money for their favorite charity or cash for themselves. When users log onto www.squidoo.com, they are directed right to their dashboard. There they will find the options to allocate royalties from each one of their lenses however they wish. Earning points for simple tasks such as logging on daily along with completing quests earn additional rewards and trophies encouraging users to have fun! Lensmasters do not actually make money on this rewards system however it does increases the probability to earn more money by encouraging users to remain active on the site.

As a result of this website review, Squidoo now has one more new user! We are excited to be a new lensmaster. You can see our first lense by searching for “website design planning” at Squidoo.com

Whether you are looking for new readers or to start publishing this review is for you.

HubPages is a free online web page publishing platform. Visitors seeking to share information while making money have landed on the right site! With over 32 million readers from around the world, this website review is sure to reveal why www.hubpages.com is so popular.

The action call to publish and earn rewards for creating a Hub Page is clearly displayed at the top of the page but does not overpower visitors upon their arrival. Featured Hubs, Hubbers, topics and news along with a questions and answers section are brilliantly displayed to allow readers to browse through relevant information with ease. Readers will find it nice to be able to vote and leave comments for their favorite Hubs without even needing to have an account. On every page of Hubpages, the modest call to action to create their very own hub is cleverly displayed at the top of each page.

It was not long into this website review that Hubpages had gained a new user. After researching the easy step by step video tutorials along with the other tools, it was time to create the first Hub. The toughest part was deciding what to write! Pop up windows allow for text to be entered right onto the Hub. There are a variety of monetizing options to add to the Hub Page as well. The option to include multiple tags helps the Hub get picked up on search engines. Additional interactive elements are available, such as related videos, photos, news feeds and even reader polls. Once all information is in place, the Hub Page is ready to be published to the site with the click of a button.

As users become more comfortable with their writing skills, they will be eager to publish their next Hub. HubPages allow users to create as many Hubs as they wish for the same low price, free! Each Hub has a communication box allowing visitors to subscribe to RSS feeds, read other Hubs and even contact their favorite Hub publishers. HubPages puts vote, print, flag and share buttons just above the reader comments on every Hub. The print option is an often overlooked feature allowing to print only the editorial content without images or save the information in a portable document format. Thanks to the creators of this site, valuable information can be sent to our elderly loved ones that still think computers are just too fancy!

A user friendly platform to share knowledge and information while generating money is a fantastic opportunity for people to supplement their income in today’s struggling economy. This website review concludes www.hubpages.com truly exemplifies how a brilliant idea can be crafted into a well designed successful site!

Website Review features wyzant.com a website for students, a website for tudors.

Is your child struggling to learn math, science, or English? Are you having a difficult time with a class in college? Website Review has found a website that might just interest you. Looking for a tutor is just a click away at www.wyzant.com. There are thousands of tutors registered with WyzAnt, and each one of them has listed specialties ranging from Art to Computer Science to Test Preparation, and everything in between. If you’re looking to work as a tutor, WyzAnt is also the place for you.

Website Review thinks WyzAnt is a great site for both people looking for a tutor or looking to offer their tutoring services. If you are looking for a tutor, simply type in what subject you need help with, your zip code, and search radius in miles. After you’ve done this, WyzAnt will give you the names, pictures of the tutors, and the rates of all the qualified tutors for you or your child in the selected radius.

Qualifying to offer your services is a little more time consuming. Before listing any subjects you want to tutor in, you must first pass a test in each of those subjects. Within certain guidelines, you are allowed to set your own rates. The company takes a percentage of your fee for finding students to match you up with. This fee varies depending on how much business you conduct. The more students you tutor, the lower the fee. The benefits of registering with this site are that as a tutor, you can focus strictly on tutoring. Wyzant collects the money from the student and then pays the tutor. There is no having to bill clients, worry about marketing, or even find new students. This is all taken care of. You can even print pre-designed business cards and promotional flyers from your computer.

When first viewing this site, you can see that it is laid out in a user friendly way. If you are looking for a tutor, you conveniently input your criteria on the first page. The tabs are all self explanatory and easy to understand. The only thing that we didn’t care for about this site is the choice of colors. At first the bright orange colors are fun, but after looking at them for more than 10 minutes, they can make your eyes a bit weary. Overall, Website Review recommends www.wyzant.com for its user friendly accessibility in finding a tutor, or offering your tutoring services.

This review features visuwords.com an interactive dictionary site.

For students, writers and teachers, Visuwords.com is an online interactive dictionary that takes the snooze out of vocabulary building. With colorful graphics and easy navigation, users can type in any word to find their meaning and word association. A diagram of color coded word nodes appears that look like a cluster of gems. Use the mouse scroll to zoom in or out. Hover the mouse over a word and the meaning appears. Drag the background and the cluster moves around. It was that easy for me to use.

The simplicity and interactive element of this site are addicting. There is a screen on top where the diagram shows up, a list of color codes on the left to reference word association and a simple explanation about the site at the bottom. The website virtually consists of one web page with endless possibilities . . . after all how many words are there in the English dictionary?

I found myself typing up various words on the search query box just to see new word diagrams appear. I was surprised at how many words were associated with the word “run.” Then I used the “Random” button and there appeared a word I’ve never heard of before “prednisone” which means anti-inflammatory drug. Well now I know. I spent about 45 minutes on the site before I realized I was late for my appointment.

Although the site contains a gamut of words, it does not have the scope of Merriam Webster Online. I searched for “hypertextual” and nothing showed up. The word screen will also produce blank results if your word is misspelled. Nevertheless, these are minor and I suspect that as the site is further developed, so will the repertoire of words.

Visuwords has proved to be a valuable tool for me since I’m a part-time tutor. I’ll often show reluctant students the site and they’re entertained by the visual representation of the words. The results appear as a dancing cluster of nodes that eventually settle down. Students get a kick out of this. Visuwords can make learning fun instead of boring and the site has made this one teacher’s job a lot easier.

I especially liked the social sharing aspects of the site, so I went ahead and bookmarked it on Facebook, Digg it and BlinkList. I highly recommend Visuwords.com as an alternative to traditional “boring” word reference sources online.
