The website review topic in this piece is for Bubbl.us, which is a creative and easy to use online mind mapping tool, or in their words, “brainstorming made simple”. The URL is www.bubbl.us, and right from the beginning, you get the skinny on what it is and how to start using it. Best of all the site is free to use, with no downloads required. Once you get started, you realize how powerful of a tool this is, for anything from planning a trip to creating that next big thing!

Bubbl.us is a terrific idea. All you need is a computer and internet connection, and you start brainstorming on your project. It is so simple to use. You don’t even have to create an account to try it. Click on the button on the main page to get started, you can’t miss it, and you’re directed to your mind mapping canvas! After just a few seconds, you have found all of the tools needed to work. You start with a bubble, aptly labeled, “Start Here”. This is the “Parent” bubble. Mouse over the Parent bubble, and you find the controls just appear! The site has a collapsible Help dialog box on the right. When you mouse over a control, the explanation of that control appears in the Help box. It is kind of whimsical. Instructions are not too wordy and explain exactly what the control does. Most of the instructions have a graphical example of the controls function. Click where the Parent bubble says Start Here, and you can name the beginning of your map. Click the controls to add “Child” bubbles that branch off of the Parent. Another control allows you to create “Sibling” to the Parent. Your ideas can take off, and you don’t lose them if you get distracted! The site saves the bubble map while you create your free account. All you need is an email address. You can now save your ideas and come back to them whenever and wherever you like!

Bubble.us has a lot more crafty, clever and cool gadgets and effects. At anytime, change the colors of the bubbles, the controls are right there on the bubbles. Click and drag the bubbles to help sort out your ideas and clean up your web. Use the directional arrows to add flow to your ideas. When your map starts getting bigger, zoom out your canvas, or zoom in to certain sections. Invite friends to collaborate with you on your project. Wow your colleagues by exporting the map as an image into your presentation, or get the HTML code to embed it into your website, with just the click of a button! I found myself trailing off during this website review, just playing with the fun features, like the little special effects. Delete a bubble, it blows up. How fun!
